Where does social business fit into the digital...
I've been thinking about where #socialbusiness falls into the path organizations take to adapt to the digital age. I like to think of social business as a subset of e-business.
As organizations seek to leverage internet communications technology to meet specific business goals, one way to do so is leveraging social technology. You don't need to leverage social technology to become a digital business, but given the direction modern communications is taking, companies are putting themselves at a disadvantage if they don't.
Most thought leaders today, though, speak of social business as though it is the replacement for e-business. I definitely see the argument, but I'm not completely convinced.
What do you think?

Disruptive Technology and How to Compete for the... →
What we don’t need is to invest in the wrong technologies simply because posts are constantly written with the “top 10″ ways to grow our business with said platform. While we can watch them grow, the real focus should be on the development of a formal system that measures impact and prioritizes resources around it accordingly.

15 Things You Should Give Up To Be Happy |... →
austra: “ 1. Give up your need to always be right. There are so many of us who can’t stand the idea of being wrong – wanting to always be right – even at the risk of ending great relationships or causing a great deal of stress and pain, for us and for others. It’s just not worth it. Whenever you feel the ‘urgent’ need to jump into a fight over who is right and who is wrong, ask yourself this...

Why Facebook's "People Talking About This" Metric...
I have read a lot of blog posts over the past few months telling Facebook community managers that the key metric for them to measure is People Talking About This (PTAT). For those who aren’t familiar with the metric, it is a public facing number that shows the world how many people are generating stories about your brand page. The metric totals the number of people who have liked your page...

How Lincoln Became America's Greatest President →
“Lincoln’s journey suggests that the true measure of a leader lies not in how much we cultivate and exploit our strengths, but in how we work on tapping, in Lincoln’s words, the “better angels of our nature” to use our strengths in the service of a cause much higher than our own personal gain.”

1st Impressions of ThinkUp Social Media Analytics...
I just finished installing ThinkUp, the open source social media analytics application, on my server. Because it is built on PHP and MySQL, it was pretty easy to setup in a standard Apache hosting environment, no server configuration was needed.  It was as simple to get installed as most open source CMS’s - you create you database, SSH (or FTP) into your server, upload the files to your...

How do you change culture within an organization?
Lead by example. Show people through your own work that your idea adds value to an organization and can make things better. There will be a learning curve, so you need to develop a curriculum for how you plan to educate people within the organization on the new approach you are proposing. Start small. Create a small group that you incorporate in the process to get buy in. They will ultimately...

What is the value of an impression?
I have had a lot of conversations lately about the value of an impression. A lot of people wonder what the value of an impression is, especially as it relates to digital and social media. Brands want to know what the return on their investment is for each impression they buy or earn.  Let’s first demystify impressions, because we often talk about them out of context. Impressions are just a...

Taking a More Focused Approach to Drupal 8...
I never did a real write up on my thoughts coming out of DrupalCon London, so I wanted to share this (long) post I wrote for Drupal.org. It sums up my thoughts about the current direction of Drupal 8 and makes some recommendations based on my own thinking around the issue and some great conversations that were had at the conference. Last night, as I read through the conversation that is happening...
