Mozilla Foundation wanted to allow their global network of volunteers to easily find projects to get involved in and collaborate with each other online. While working at Trellon, I helped their team design Drumbeat, a custom online collaboration platform that allowed people to discover and participate in Mozilla’s many open source projects.
I worked with fellow Internet Strategist Dan Kurtz to design the platform using Drupal and CiviCRM. I also worked closely with the project manager from Mozilla Foundation to develop a CRM integration strategy, mapping out how data would flow between the social platform and their open source CRM system.
What started out as an experiment grew into a global community of tens-of-thousands of users actively collaborating on Mozilla projects every day.
Below is a Slideshare presentation Jay Patel of the Mozilla Foundation put together explaining the project in the early stages, back when it was known as the MozCRM project.
