Wiffiti Community Management

LocaModa Wiffiti Toscanini's screen

My first job in social media was for a start-up called LocaModa. As the “Text Jocky Manager”, I led a team of 13 community managers responsible for moderating and driving engagement with interactive digital out-of-home displays in social venues.

The concept was really innovative at the time (this was in 2006). People would send an SMS message to a shortcode that was specific to the venue they were attending. Their SMS message would appear on the screen in a floating bubble, and would shrink over time until it faded from the screen. People could communicate with each other on these digital out-of home displays, or they could be used for running games or contests. The technology became big at events where hosts wanted to collect attendee feedback or responses in real time.

I developed our community policies and procedures; managed the team day-to-day; and helped develop tactics to get attendees of social venues to engage with each other using the digital out-of-home displays.
