Google/Saleforce Partnership Good for Fundraising

I see the strongest use coming out of this integration for NPO’s is the ability  to track your donation campaigns through Salesforce. If you have attempted to  run a CPC campaign to increase your donations, to this point you needed to use  AdWords standard tracking to measure the ads performance, then look at your  fundraising stats and try to do some type of comparison. With this integration  you can do much better analysis of your fundraising campaign to better target  your keyword ads.

A morning of Mimosas and WordPress 2.2

I have decided to stay home today and recover from three straight nights with no sleep and 20 hours of travel back and forth from DC to NY and back yesterday. While I sit here drinking Mimosas and eating scrambled eggs, I have decided to upgrade this blog to WordPress 2.2, otherwise called WordPress Getz.

What will define Web 3.0?

The world wide web was redefined with the introduction of social networking and participatory media. The late 1990's ushered in a new form of the web, moving end users beyond the confines of static HTML pages to database-driven websites that were interactive. Ownership of the web was taking from the producers of content and given to all.

We are now in approaching a new age in the evolution of the web. Web 2.0 has evolved to...i'll say web 2.5. What is next in this evolution? What will be in the next age of interconnectivity through the information super-highway?

A morning of Mimosas and WordPress 2.2...Pt. 2

I am home this morning waiting for Comcast to come fix the internet, so i decided to play around with the new Widget tool that is part of WP 2.2 core code. It is an AJAX heavy tool allowing you to drag and drop what "widgets" you would like to be in your side bar.

My critique:

1) It is really easy to use, but there is a limitied number of widgets to select from.

Blogging Personal Democracy Forum - Politics is Flat Part I & II

Went over my head. I was blogging. Sorry.

Blogging Personal Democracy Forum - A demographic look at who's doing what

A lot of numbers I have heard before:

1) Internet users are more diverse - more men and more women, more people of color
2) 15% of internet users have watched political video
3) People under 35 see internet as important as TV
4) Teens see the internet as integral part of their lifestyle

Blogging Personal Democracy Forum - Quick Demographic Note

This may not be completely accurate because I have not seen everyone at the conference..but I am pretty sure I am the only black male here. I tried to do an assessment of the demographic make up of the event because diversity has always been an issue at progressive conferences and political trainings. Besides myself, I have seen two black women, one of which works for a local television station (so we can't count her towards the attendance). The other is Cheryl Contee, an associate I regularly see at conferences. There is not a large Hispanic, Asian or Indigenous make up.

Blogging Personal Democracy Forum - Eric Schmidt, CEO of Google

What impact will Youtube and user generated content have on politics going forward? Dr. Schmidt of Google gave some great examples of how user generated content is changing the political process overseas. I did not know that in Bahrain's past election cycle that there were residents using Google Earth to take pics of the acres upon acres of land taken by the royal family. Nor did I know about China's Great Firewall that has been used to block video content from web pages from countries outside of the country.

Blogging Personal Democracy Forum - Andrew Rasiej, Creative Commons

Andrew Rasiej, Executive Director to Creative Commons in a comment essentially called "Free Software" and "Open Source Software"  the same thing, This came as a shock to me coming out of a conversation just yesterday in a conversation at the firm I work for (CITI...cheap blug) in which we determined they are not the same. Open Source is not always free.
